STRENGTH TRAINING

As one of the most effective ways to reduce body fat, increase lean muscle mass and burn calories more efficiently, strength training is an important part of any fitness programme. Studies have shown that strength training can also help to increase the endurance of muscles, while also helping to increase bone density, reduce resting blood pressure and improve balance and co-ordination.

To get the most out of your workout, it is essential that you are using the correct weights. As a guide, the last rep should be struggle. You should still have control over the weight and your form should still be correct but you’ll feel like you can’t repeat the movement any more.
Perfecting your breathing techniques when you’re working out is also crucial, helping your body to deliver oxygen to your muscles more efficiently. For strength training, exhale on the exertion phase (the lifting, curling or pushing) of the exercise and inhale on the easier phase when you return to the starting position. Proper breathing can also help you to build endurance and ensure good form.

The total workout tool! Kettlebells are one of the most effective pieces of equipment to use during a strength training session.

 

FREEWEIGHTS

Fitbells are a popular part of many workout routines because they provide an easy way to add muscle-toning resistance, and are ideal for toning the upper body. Fitbells can be used to target all areas of the body.

 

STEPS

The step remains one of the most popular ways of burning fat whilst working out to music. For the best results step at a ‘walking’ pace for a basic workout or add lifts, squats and lunges to your session to engage all the muscles in your lower body and torso.

 

HYDRAULIC MACHINES

The hydraulic machines are safe, simple and VERY effective. They automatically adjust to every fitness level. The equipment provides the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and weight training with the safe movement of hydraulic resistance, giving an effective workout while protecting bones and joints. Each low-impact machine works at least two muscle groups and as many as four at one time because you push and pull, rather than lift and lower weight. Alternating upper body, lower body and core muscles.
